MUSIC & DRAMA
Music in Our School
We are very proud of our musical tradition in Scoil Naomh Iósaf. The teaching of music comprises three strands: listening & responding, performing and composing.
All classes from 1st to 4th are taught to play the tinwhistle and are very accomplished players by the time they leave the school.
We have a wonderful school choir and we perform at many events such as the First Holy Communion, Confirmation, choir competitions, carol singing, the Live Crib, school celebrations and concerts and parish events.
Drama in Our School
Drama has always occupied a special place in our school and this is never more obvious than in our annual school shows that take place at Easter.
The school has produced shows such as Oliver, The Lion King, Magic of the Musicals, Dr Suess, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to name a few.
We get great help from the Parents’ Council with sets, costumes and make-up. The shows take place in the Village hall over two nights and it is safe to say they would rival anything produced on Broadway!
